MyGovID will replace AUSkey as the secure access to various government services for business. MyGovID is a totally new, revamped, more secure way to access your business information and many other online government services. AUSkey will be rendered obsolete on the 27th March 2020, so we have compiled some need-to-know information for you to make the change a smooth process.

What is MyGovID?

MyGovID is like a 100 point check, but on your smart phone.

Why the change from AusKey?

The change to myGovID means a much safer and secure online exchange with your private and business information across all available online Government services. The use of encryption, cryptographic technology and the security features available on your smart device helps to protect your identity and stop others from accessing your information.

How do I setup MyGovID?

To get started with your myGovID, head to https://www.mygovid.gov.au/ and follow the prompts.

Who needs a MyGovID?

AUSkey will not operate on and after 27 March 2020. All businesses and individuals within those businesses that have responsibility for interfacing with key Government services will need an active MyGovID set up before 27 March 2020 to maintain business continuity and compliance.

Linking your business

Once you have set up your myGovID, you will also need to link your businesses using Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM). To get started with RAM, head to https://info.authorisationmanager.gov.au/ and follow the prompts. NOTE: If you have a trading trust entity that you are trying to link, you may hit a snag when it comes to the associated entity if it is a corporate trustee company. You will need to make sure you are listed as an associate through the ABR and give the ATO a call to link your trading trust to your RAM.

Which Government Services need a MyGovID

Key Government services include:

  • ATO – Lodging tax returns and activity statements, Single Touch Payroll and other online tax services
  • Australian Business Register (ABR) – Updating your business details
  • Austrade – Lodgment of EMDG submissions
  • Department of Human Services – Centrelink Services
